SILVERSTONE
PROVES DIFFICULT FOR MICHAEL
Making
its second visit to Silverstone (June 1-3), Rounds 11
& 12 of the Avon Tyres British F3 Championship proved
difficult for Michael as he could only manage fifth
and seventh place respectively which drop him to third
overall in the series.
Entering
the weekend lying second in the standings, the Donington
Park race winner struggled in qualifying. Forced to
miss the two official tests due to the back injury suffered
at Brands Hatch, the lack of mileage on the International
circuit was obvious as Michael recorded his worst grid
position of the season managing only the 13th quickest
time during the 20 minute session.

Round 12 Qualifying saw a big improvement from the Carlin
Motorsport driver as he found 6/10th of second to post
the 10th fastest time and line up on the fifth row of
the grid.
Race
1 (Sunday), a 15 lap encounter, saw the 22 year old
make one of his hallmark starts which elevated him four
places. By lap 5, his Clonakilty Black Pudding supported
driver was up to seventh and on lap 10 another position
had been gained.
Crossing
the line sixth just behind France's Bruce Jouanny ,
Michael was later handed fifth as race winner Robbie
Kerr was excluded for an incident with James Courtney
which forced the championship leader out on lap 3. This
handed Manor Motorsport's Mark Taylor
his second win of the season.
Race
2 on Monday saw Michael make up three places early on
to finish seventh in his Ibstock Brick backed Dallara/Honda
in what became a processional 20 lap encounter which
was dominated by Courtney.
After
five consecutive weekends of racing, Michael now has
a well earned two week break from action before the
championship travels to Castle Combe (June 22/23) for
Rounds 13 & 14.
