MICHAEL SHOWS GOOD FORM AT CROFT

Michael showed good form at Croft today (Sunday) when he finished fourth in the sixth round of the championship, a result which made up for the dissappointment of an incident which saw him eliminated at the first corner of Race 1earlier in the day.

Having put himself in a good position for a podium finish in both races following a strong performance in qualifying, Michael was hopeful of getting his title challenge firmly back on track.

Claiming a spot on the second and third row of the grid respectively, the Irishman was looking forward to a competitive run in the opening race as he and the Promatecme team, for whom he signed only days before the season opener, continued to gel together. The race was not to last long however as Michael went out at the very first corner.

Passing a slow starting Alan Van Der Merwe around the outside, Michael was forced onto the grass by his former team-mate where he had little control of the Ibstock Brick backed Dallara spinning into retirement.

Starting race 2, Round 6 of the championship, the Brands Hatch podium finisher managed to get safely around the first corner to eventually cross the finish line in fourth position.

Having shown a noticeable improvement in qualifying this weekend, Michael and the Promatecme team head for Knockhill next weekend where the Clonakilty ace will be aiming for a repeat of his 2002 performance at the Scottish circuit where he finished on the podium.
