MICHAEL
COMPLETES FIRST TEST WITH LOLA-DOME F3 CAR
Michael
Keohane and the Sweeney Racing team successfully undertook
their first full day’s testing with the new Lola-Dome
F106 chassis at Snetterton yesterday (Tuesday). Following
two shakedown tests at Donington Park and Silverstone
last week, lead driver
Michael
completed 130 laps in wet conditions around the 1.9-mile
Norfolk circuit. The test day, the first official British
F3 test of the season, was attended by the majority
of British Formula 3 teams and drivers. Although the
changeable weather and track conditions rendered it
difficult to compare lap times, the test was a valuable
part of the ongoing development programme with the F106
chassis.
Said
Keohane: "This is the first day of proper running we
have had with the car. The tests last week were more
of a systems check, enabling us to clock up some real
mileage today. Everything has gone according to plan
and we are gradually working through our test programme.
It’s great having Adam Airey on board from Lola – as
the Design Engineer for the new car, his input is invaluable.
We’ve all got to dig deep in the forthcoming tests and
the run up to the first race in April; Rome wasn’t built
in a day but I’m very happy with the progress we’ve
made today."
Roly
Vincini, Team Manager, added: "Michael’s doing a great
job and working well with the team. We’re getting all
the support we could ask for from Lola and now it’s
just a matter of getting our heads down and getting
on with the job." The team moves onto Pembrey Circuit
in Wales to test at the end of the week, prior to the
next two FOTA tests at Rockingham (11th March) and Donington
Park (13th March).
