ANOTHER PODIUM FINISH FOR MICHAEL

Michael took his fourth podium finish in eight races when he finished second in the eigtht round of the British F3 Championship at Knockhill in Scotland. The Carlin Motorsport driver made a blistering start from fourth on the grid to jump to second by the first corner, a position he held until the chequered flag to complete a one-two for Carlin Motorsport with team-mate James Courtney taking the win.

The result made up for the disappointment of the day's first race at the tight Scottish circuit when Michael was eliminated on lap 9 of 28 when he was hit from behind by Brazil's Ernani Judice. The result leaves Michael fourth in the championship standings.

KNOCKHILL QUALIFYING

Michael will start tomorrow's two F3 encounters at Knockhill from the second and fifth rows of the grid after recording the fourth and ninth fastest times in qualifying today.

Having tested well yesterday at the Scottish track, the Carlin Motorsport driver was hopeful of qualifying well for Round 7 of the championship but could only managed ninth when his car ended up in the gravel trap two thirds the way through the 20 minute session.

Qualifying for Round 8 gave a better reflection of the testing pace shown by the Irishman as he posted the fourth quickest time to line up ahead of championship leader Robbie Kerr and Silverstone winner Mark Taylor.

Having finished third last weekend at Silverstone after starting from ninth, the Ibstock Brick driver is confident of two good results tomorrow.
