MICHAEL
TAKES DOUBLE VICTORY AT DONINGTON PARK
and becomes first Irish F3 race winner in 20 years
21
year old International racing driver Michael Keohane,
from Clonakilty, Co. Cork, became the first Irish driver
to win a round of the British F3 Championship when he
scored a double victory in the F1 feeder series at Donington
Park on Sunday (14th April).

Driving
for Carlin Motorsport, the Ibstock Brick backed racer
claimed his first win in the top flight of British F3
when got past Australian team-mate James Courtney on
lap 16 of 20, a move which sees him became Ireland's
first F3 winner since former Grand Prix driver Tommy
Byrne won in 1982.
Race
2 saw Michael again get the better of polesitter Courtney.
This time the former Irish Kart Champion managed it
from the start as he out dragged the Jaguar F1 test
driver into the first corner from where he took control
to dominate the 20 lap encounter and become the first
double-winner in the Avon Tyres British Formula 3 Championship.

'It's
absolutely fantastic,' said Michael, 'Winning the first
race was great but to win them both is just absolutely
fantastic. The team did a wonderful job and I want to
thank everyone who helped me since my crash at Brands.'
He continued, 'When it fully sinks in I think I will
remember this weekend for quite some time'.
Michael's
domination of yesterday's racing moves him to fourth
in the championship standings, a position he will be
aiming to improve on when he travels to Silverstone
in three weeks time (May 3/4/5) for the third round
of the series.
