MICHAEL HAS DIFFICULT TIME AT ROCKINGHAM

Rounds 17 & 18 of the championship took place at Rockingham and the event proved difficult for Michael as he managed only one sixth place finish.

The weekend started off poorly for the Ibstock Brick backed ace as he could only manage the 11th fastest time in both qualifying sessions.

Race 1 saw the Irishman's difficult weekend get worse as he was eliminated on the second lap after contact with another car. Team-mate Shinya Hosokawa won the race, the Jap taking his maiden F3 victory ahead of British Grand Prix support race winner Heikki Kovalainen.

Michael drove a strong race to finish 6th in Round 18 at Rockingham

Race 2, Round 18, at the 2.56 mile circuit saw the 22-year-old make up for the earlier disappointment as he put in a charging drive to finish a well deserved sixth.

Despite his non-finish in Race 1, Michael remains fourth in the championship just 10 points adrift of France's Bruce Jouanny while at the top of the standings Robbie Kerr took the lead from the absent James Courtney. The Australian forced to miss the race following a major F1 testing accident.
