KEOHANE
IMPRESSED WITH F3000
Top
Irish International racing driver Michael Keohane may
contest a round of this year's FIA International F3000
Championship following a successful test at the famous
Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium yesterday (Wednesday,
24th June) with leading Formula 3000 outfit Team Astromega.
Completing
13 flying laps of the 6.9Km circuit with the Belgian
team, the 23-year-old Irishman was impressed with the
car adapting quickly to the extra power and very different
handling characteristics it has compared to the F3 machine
he is more used to driving.
Said
Michael
'The car is very impressive. You have so much power.
Going through Eau Rouge in one of these has to be one
of the best experiences I have had in a racing car.
I would love to do a race but I am not going to rush
into making a decision as there are other options I
must look at first.'
A
double race winner in British F3, if the Irishman decides
to race in F3000 this season it will most likely be
at the British round of the championship which takes
place at Silverstone - a track he is very familiar with.
One
of the world's premier junior series Formula 3000 figures
as a strong feeder category for Formula 1 and runs in
Europe as a support race at each Grand Prix.
